- How can an institution join the consortium? Any institution that is already hosting an at-risk scholar or wishes to host one in the near future can join the New UIE Consortium. Interested institutions should contact us by emailing UIEConsortium@newschool.edu.

- What qualifies as an endangered or exiled scholar? Anyone with a PhD or equivalent degree who has held a teaching or researcher position in an institution of higher education beyond graduate school and has faced or recently (within the past two years) fled from severe and targeted threats to their lives and/or careers in their home countries or countries of residence. Endangered scholars should have some evidence of academic accomplishments or promise.
- Can member institutions host more than one scholar? Yes, we ask that member institutions host at least one scholar, however, we welcome participation of additional exiled scholars from a single institution.
- What is the cost of becoming a New UIE Consortium member? There is no fee to join the New UIE Consortium. Members are responsible for supporting the scholars and his or her travel to New York City to attend two programs per semester hosted by The New School.
- Does the New UIE Consortium welcome scholars from any academic discipline? Yes, scholars from all academic disciplines are welcome to participate in the programming of the New UIE Consortium.
- Do scholars need to speak English? Yes.
- Can endangered or exiled scholars housed at non-consortium institutions participate in New UIE Consortium programming? Yes. In addition to the scholars identified and hosted by consortium member institutions, we welcome all exiled or endangered scholars who are currently on campus at universities and colleges in the United States to participate in the programs offered by the New UIE Consortium.
- Can non-U.S. institutions join the consortium? If you are a non-U.S. institution interested in joining the New UIE Consortium, please contact us at UIEConsortium@newschool.edu.
